That said, however, there is a strong and pervasive theme of prioritizing societal impact of organizational decisions above all else. While a nice theory, it discounts the practical operations of large organizations as well as the limitations faced by smaller functional areas within those organizations. It is fairly simple to keep larger societal concerns in mind, but to map in-depth all the way up the chain, especially in a global company, is not feasible for anyone in a front-line role, at least not to the depth recommended in the authors' ideal framework as described in this book.
